Timeline of Reid History

1948

In 1948 Liberty Reid was an office manager and purchasing agent in a local tool and die shop. He discovered there were numerous tools and parts that he could not obtain in a timely manner. This discovery inspired him to start Reid Tool Supply as a small business in his home on Baker St., with the help of his wife, Gloria.

Mr. Reid's vision was to have those hard-to-get tools and parts in inventory for immediate delivery. He lined up suppliers and published a 16-page catalog, which was mailed to 5,000 machine shops in the Midwest. From the very beginning, Reid Tool Supply focused on great customer service by providing hard-to-find merchandise on a timely basis.
